The Melbeats will take you on a Magical Mystery Tour spanning the entire Beatles career. Performing all the classic songs from the early hysteria of the Beatlemania period, right through the heady mid 60’s and the Psychedelic Sgt Pepper’s era, up to their untimely break-up in 1970. Using authentic Beatles instruments and Vox amps The Melbeats can reproduce the songs as close to the records as possible.

The Melbeats also recreate the distinct look of The Beatles with costume changes for each set. Starting with black suits, skinny 1960’s ties and those famous “Winkle Picker” Beatle boots, this set covers the years 1963 to 1964.
The second set features the band performing in black turtleneck skivvies, as worn around 1965 to 1966, arguably The Beatles most creative era.

The final set sees The Melbeats transform into Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band! The colourful costumes as seen on the most famous album cover ever, have been faithfully reproduced to relive the songs from 1967 to 1970.

WE HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THE SHOW!!

Scott McCarthy (as John Lennon)
Scott has been a Beatles fan all his life. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 by learning many of The Beatles classic songs that The Melbeats perform today. Scott makes the perfect John Lennon and plays all the same guitars as Lennon played in The Beatles. These include the famous black Rickenbacker 325V64, the Gibson J160E acoustic and of course the Sunburst Epiphone Casino, both in its original and post "Revolution" natural form. Naturally, a collection such as this can only be done justice when played through an AC30 VOX guitar amp on a chrome stand to create that classic Beatles sound!

Ben King (as Paul McCartney)
Ben was literally brought up on The Beatles from an early age and has spent significant time in and around the local Melbourne live music scene playing Bass, Piano & Sax and with working bands from an early age. Ben was keen to join The Melbeats and had arguably the toughest job in the band. But learning all of McCartney's incredible bass lines and singing those amazing vocals was a challenge he welcomed. Ben handles the McCartney role whilst playing that unmistakable 1962 model Hofner violin 'Beatle Bass' and Rickenbacker 4001 through a VOX AC100 bass amp.

Michael Burke (as George Harrison)
Michael was the last and member to join the Melbeats and has enjoyed taking on the challenge of mastering all the George solos. He started listening to the Beatles music from an early age through his dad’s record collection. Michael started playing guitar at the age of 12, learning many of the classics such as Day Tripper and Lady Madonna. He graduated from Melba Conservatorium of Music/Victoria University completing a Bachelor of Music. Michael has also played in a variety of musical productions. He currently teaches music at Kangan Batman TAFE and also teaches guitar privately. In true George form, Michael plays his Gretsch Country Gentleman through a Vox AC-30 on a chrome stand.

Lee Dryden (as Ringo Starr)
Lee was destined to play Ringo! He started playing drums at the age of 12 and grew up listening to his mum's Beatles records (his mum is even from The Beatles' city of Liverpool!). He set about learning all of Ringo's unique drum beats and fills and in 2004, decided to start his own Beatles tribute band. After auditioning countless potential band members, the line up was complete. Lee plays an original 1960's Ludwig, Black Oyster Pearl drum kit just like Ringo's. With "The Melbeats" logo printed on the bass drum, it is the centrepiece of the band's stage set up.
